World Cup leader Lobodzinski wins outdoor stair race in Brazil
The reigning Towerrunning European Champion, Piotr Lobodzinski (POL) celebrated another victory this season at Corrida Vertical Santos, Brazil. The current World Cup leader climbed 415 stairs together with some steep uphill sections in 4:13, setting a new track record and beating last year's winner – Reginaldo Pereira Da Silva (BRA) – by 50 seconds. "It may look like an easy win, but it wasn't. Because of a thunderstorm, I missed my plane from London to Sao Paulo and eventually, after 36-hour-long trip, slept only 4 hours before the race. I didn't feel good, but fortunately I was able to keep my pace and control the race" – Lobodzinski said. The Polish athlete won his round-trip to Santos in a TWA lottery. Local runner Angelina Das Gracas Rafael triumphed in the women's category climbing Monte Serrat in 6:27. In total, 126 athletes participated in the race.
